Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Smokey Bites the Dust (1981)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Max Apple was sent to Texas to write a script around all the wrecks and chases, but he was not allowed to see the footage: it was too expensive to rent a Movieola and send him prints, so he had only vague written descriptions of the stunts, and nothing worked.
- Charles B. Griffith had made the popular Eat My Dust! for Roger Corman's New World Pictures, and Corman wanted a follow-up called Car Wars using stunt footage from five old New World films. Griffith wrote a script he later called Wham Bam, Merci, Madame, which he says Corman rejected before reactivating the project years later.
