Plot summary
Taipei 101 rises 508 meters above Taipei, Taiwan, and held the title of the world's tallest building from 2004 to 2009. In 2004, Alain Robert climbed it with a safety rope over four hours in heavy rain, so his ascent was not a free solo. Alex Honnold, who became known for his 2017 free solo of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, now attempts his first major climb of a building. At 40, he has practiced portions of the tower with ropes two or three times and took part in a traditional Taiwanese blessing ceremony before the attempt. The live broadcast, delayed a day by weather, features a panel of hosts and runs on a 10-second delay.
