Plot summary
Jonas Bracken, an American businessman in Greece, learns that a radical group calling itself the World Activist Revolutionary Army has taken his wife and children and wants five million dollars for their release. He raises the sum by parting with pieces of his business empire, but the captors change their terms and tell him to spend the money on arms and ammunition instead. Inspector Nikolidis of the Greek police leads the investigation. Jim McCabe, a smuggler, is Ellen Bracken's former husband and the father of her son, and he comes across the story in the newspapers before arranging to meet Bracken. The captors send a photograph showing Ellen and the children, proof that they are alive.

- An explosion on the set killed a Greek electrician, after which producer Terry Morse Jr. was arrested and producer Sandy Howard was detained for several weeks. A $250,000 out-of-court settlement followed, which one Variety article called a "bribe" so the crew member responsible would not be imprisoned.
- The hang-glider rescue sequences were shot at Meteora in Greece, the same place later used as the setting for the finale of the 1981 James Bond film For Your Eyes Only.
