Plot summary
Emmy O'Conner is blind, and she is the only person to survive an attack by a serial killer the police have not been able to catch. Jack Whitfield draws faces for the police, turning what a witness remembers into a picture. He is doubtful when Emmy says she can describe the man who came after her, but the account she gives matches in every detail, and a likeness takes shape from it. Whoever the drawing shows learns that a witness has described him, and he is determined to reach her. The picture Jack is building moves him nearer to the killer.
