Plot summary
Time Hippopotamus, the studio's original series, was canceled after its sponsor stopped financing it, and staff have left Musashino Animation since, with Masato Marukawa resigning as president. Shun Watanabe, the new president, asks Aoi Miyamori to produce Air Amphibious Assault Ship SIVA, an original feature, and Gōtarō Katsuragi pleads with her to take the job because GPU, the studio attached to the project, never finished the storyboards and wanted a bigger budget. Encouraged by Marukawa, Miyamori accepts and meets Kaede Miyai, an assistant producer who joins her on the film. With nine months until release, Miyamori suggests reusing materials from Time Hippopotamus, persuades Seiichi Kinoshita to direct, and brings in Shimeji Maitake to write the script.
