Pompo the Cinephile (2021) on Netflix

Plot summary

Joelle Davidovich Pomponett, known as Pompo, runs Peterzen Films in Nyallywood and turns out one cheesy B-movie after another. Her assistant, Gene Fini, has worked for her about a year and dreams of directing. After she hands him a script she has written, Meister, about a burnt-out orchestra conductor whose life changes through a girl named Lily, Pompo tells him he will shoot it. Gene is unsure he can. Natalie Woodward, who has left the countryside for Nyallywood and worked odd jobs between rejections, is cast as Lily and sent to train as Mystia's protege. At the crew's party, Gene and Natalie admit their doubts and vow to give the film everything they have.
