Plot summary
In the late Ming Dynasty, the former Shaolin monk Tianlong and his younger brother Yilong raise eight orphan boys they saved from bandits, teaching them Shaolin kung fu at Lijiang. Across the river live the Bao family, who practice Wudang sword and have nine daughters; the oldest Long boy, Sanlong, likes to tease Sanfeng, the third Bao sister, a tomboy with a temper. The Bao patriarch wants a son to inherit his martial art and believes Tianlong is out to steal it, yet he agrees to marry his eldest daughter, Taifeng, to Tianlong if his wife bears a boy. The Longs save toward the ten-oxen bride price.
