Shanghai Calling (2012) on Netflix

Plot summary

Sam, a lawyer in New York City, wins a big case and is told by the partners of Powell & Davies that he will not be promoted unless he runs the Shanghai branch office for three months. In Shanghai he meets Marcus, the firm's biggest client, who heads a technology company and wants to buy a next-generation smartphone from an inventor in China. Sam persuades him to sign a leasing agreement instead, for a smaller sum, to save time. Sam also gets to know his Chinese staff, Fang Fang and Guang, and Americans living in the city, among them Amanda, a relocation specialist, Donald and Brad. Then Marcus calls in anger: a factory in China is turning out the same smartphone, and the partners order Sam to fix the mess.
