Plot summary

Sue Ellen, Patty, Rose, and Cindy, all university students, set out from Virginia on a spring break road trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At a diner in Georgia they meet Chad and Owen, two young men their own age bound the same way, and the women agree to meet them again the next day. The next day, approaching a rural town, the women's car blows a tire and strands them; Patty walks toward town for help while Rose and Cindy stay behind. Sue Ellen goes into the woods and sees a man and a woman arguing over an affair; he kills her, and Sue Ellen runs with an injured ankle.
