Plot summary
A church leader and his followers call up a demon to end the world. Instead, the creature immediately destroys them, leaving bodies that crumble when touched by any light. Light is the demon's weakness, but every victim makes it stronger and more able to withstand illumination and control others, even a pack of dogs. It then targets a boy named Chris Hatcher, whose soul can open a doorway to hell. Father Vassey, Jenny Hatcher, and Sheriff Sam Logan become involved as the town falls into chaos and the demon closes in on the child.
