Seven Days (2010) on Netflix

Plot summary

Bruno Hamel works as a surgeon in Drummondville, where he lives with his wife Sylvie and their daughter Jasmine, who is eight. Their uneventful life ends on a fall afternoon when the girl is raped and murdered in a park. Detectives arrest the prime suspect, a laborer named Anthony Lemaire. Hamel then prepares a plan of his own: he drugs the officer driving the vehicle that carries Lemaire to his court appearance and takes the prisoner to a cabin in a secluded spot. From there he telephones the police to announce that he will execute Lemaire in seven days, on Jasmine's birthday, and then turn himself in. Detective Hervé Mercure heads the hunt for Hamel, a man who lost his own wife in a grocery store robbery and who wants the killing stopped.
