Plot summary
Marwan belongs to the 1080s, a Moroccan gang in Brussels. Mavela, fifteen, is a member of the Black Bronx, a rival gang. They meet at a police station, and both know what getting involved across gang lines would mean, so they hold back from the attraction between them until they can hold back no longer. Brussels has high youth unemployment and close to forty street gangs, and each year more of its young people enter gang culture. Mavela and Marwan must choose between loyalty to their gangs and their love for each other, and breaking free would mean betraying the loyalties those gangs are founded on.

- Most of Black's cast were non-actors picked off the streets of Brussels' migrant neighborhoods, a process the filmmakers called "streetcasting". Nabil Mallat and Chafic Amraoui scouted those neighborhoods with the agency Hakuna Casting, and Caroline Bastin coached the newcomers during auditions.
