Plot summary
Only twelve percent of students at Jules Ferry High School obtain the baccalaureate, the worst result in France, and closure threatens the institution. The students are the worst in the country as well. The academy inspector has exhausted the conventional means of raising standards, and the best tutors have already failed there, so on his deputy's advice he turns to the country's worst teachers. The recruits include Serge Cutiro in mathematics, Gladys in English, Antoine Polochon in history, Éric in sport, Amina in French, Maurice in philosophy and Albert in chemistry. They have one academic year to bring the school's baccalaureate pass rate above fifty percent.
