Plot summary

Semret is an Eritrean single mother living in Zurich, where she works at a hospital and hopes to train as a midwife. She devotes herself to her teenage daughter Joe and to building a better life for them both. Joe has begun asking questions about where she comes from, but Semret does not want to revisit her own past. Then a wrongful accusation at the hospital puts her job and her plans at risk. To keep what she has worked so hard for and to protect the life she shares with Joe, Semret decides she must speak up for her rights.
