Plot summary

Angela Anderson is a sexually repressed woman who buys a large pair of scissors at a hardware shop and, when a red-bearded man attacks her in her building's elevator, stabs him in self-defense. Two brothers who live in the apartment next door, the twins Alex and Cole Morgan, find her after the attack. Alex stars in a successful soap opera; Cole is an artist who uses a wheelchair. An attraction grows between Angela and Alex, held back by her repression, and she is afraid of Cole. In hypnotherapy with her psychiatrist, Dr. Stephan Carter, a red-bearded man named Billy emerges from her past. After another encounter with her attacker and harassment from Cole, the offer of a job draws her to a large, mysterious apartment.
