Plot summary
Samson is a teenager who cannot speak. He sleeps in a run-down shelter in a remote Aboriginal community, where his older brother's ska band rehearses outside all day and keeps him from sleeping; he sniffs petrol. Delilah tends to her frail grandmother, taking her to appointments at the clinic and managing her medication. Delilah and her grandmother make dot paintings together and sell them to an art broker for little money. Samson takes an interest in Delilah and awkwardly tries to get her attention. Her grandmother teases her about him, but Delilah is not interested. Samson trails her for a day and then tries to move in with her uninvited.
