Yvonne Wilder
Biography
Yvonne Wilder was an American actress, comedian and writer who also worked as an artist. Raised in the Bronx, she trained at the High School for Performing Arts and at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and she began as a young dancer and actress in shows headlined by Imogene Coca and Carol Burnett. While in London she joined a West End staging of West Side Story, and she went on to play Anita in the musical's first international touring company; her earliest screen credit was Consuelo in West Side Story (1961). She co-wrote and appeared in The Return of Count Yorga (1971), and her other films included Silent Movie (1976), Bloodbrothers (1978) and Seems Like Old Times (1980). Television supplied most of her work, from the 1960s through the 1990s, and she also performed as part of a comedy duo with Jack Colvin. She later painted, sculpted and wrote the play Weehawken, staged in Los Angeles in 1988.
