Yvonne Romain

Yvonne Romain is a retired British actress whose screen career lay mainly in film and television during the late 1950s and 1960s. Born in London to Maltese family roots, she began in children's shows and repertory at age twelve and later studied at the Italia Conti Academy. She entered British films in her late teens, often playing Italian or Spanish maidens in war stories and comedies. Romain became best known for horror cinema, appearing in Corridors of Blood (1958), Circus of Horrors (1960), Devil Doll (1964) and The Curse of the Werewolf (1961), where she acted opposite Oliver Reed in his first major part. Captain Clegg (1962), a Hammer production, was probably her biggest role. Her later screen work included Smokescreen (1964), The Brigand of Kandahar (1965), Double Trouble (1967) and The Last of Sheila (1973), which closed her film career.
