Plot summary
Satanic rituals are held in a country house outside London. The Secret Service agent Hanson escapes and dies of his wounds, but before he dies he tells his superiors that four prominent men belong to a cult that Chin Yang leads: the government minister John Porter, the peer Lord Carradine, General Sir Arthur Freeborne and the scientist Dr. Julian Keeley. To avoid reprisals by Porter, Colonel Mathews has Scotland Yard's Inspector Murray work on the case separately, and Murray suggests consulting the occult expert Professor Lorrimer Van Helsing.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The film's working title was Dracula Is Dead ... and Well and Living in London, a reference to the Jacques Brel revue; Lee said at a 1973 press conference that he was doing the film under protest and called the title fatuous, pointless and absurd.
- It was the last Hammer film that Lee and Cushing made together, though the two reunited one final time for House of the Long Shadows (1983).
- As film historian Jonathan Rigby noted, the film wrapped on 3 January 1973, exactly 15 years to the day after the first Hammer Dracula finished shooting.
- The film appears to have been the first to show a silver bullet used against a vampire; Hammer had earlier used a silver bullet melted from a cross in The Curse of the Werewolf (1961).
