Trystan Gravelle

Biography

Trystan Gravelle is a Welsh stage, film and television actor who came up through the theater. He grew up in Trimsaran, a village in Carmarthenshire, performed with the Llanelli Youth Theatre between 1997 and 1999, and then trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After graduating he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, and in 2010 he appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in a monologue by D. C. Moore titled Honest. Screen International named him a Star of Tomorrow in 2012. His film work includes Anonymous (2011), in which he played Christopher Marlowe in a story about the authorship of Shakespeare's plays. On television he played Victor Colleano, a restaurant assistant manager, in the ITV period drama Mr Selfridge, and later appeared in the Channel 4 drama National Treasure and the Sky One series A Discovery of Witches. He played Ar-Pharazôn in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power beginning in 2022.

Early training
Trystan Gravelle was part of the Llanelli Youth Theatre from 1997 until 1999. After that, he went on to train at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Beyond film
In 2010, Gravelle performed D. C. Moore's monologue Honest at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The performance took place at Milne's Bar and was part of the Assembly program.

Screen International chose Gravelle as one of its 'Stars of Tomorrow' in the summer of 2012, a recognition the publication gave to up and coming performers.
