Biography

Sela Ward is an American actress who moved from modeling and commercials into film and television. She was born in Meridian, Mississippi, and studied fine art and advertising at the University of Alabama. While working in New York as a storyboard artist, she took modeling jobs and was featured in Maybelline commercials before heading to California for her first film part in The Man Who Loved Women. Her breakthrough came as Teddy Reed on Sisters, a role that won her a Primetime Emmy in 1994, and she won a second Emmy and a Golden Globe for the lead in Once and Again. She played Helen Kimble in The Fugitive and took the recurring part of Stacy Warner on House. She appeared opposite Tom Hanks in Nothing in Common and with Kevin Costner in The Guardian, and she developed and produced the documentary The Changing Face of Beauty.
