Scott Ian

Scott Ian is an American musician who plays rhythm guitar and writes lyrics for Anthrax, the thrash metal band he co-founded and where he has been the only continuous member. He also helped found Stormtroopers of Death and has played rhythm guitar for the Damned Things and Mr. Bungle. With Anthrax he helped shape thrash metal in the mid-1980s, and he came up with the idea of working with the rap group Public Enemy on a 1991 cover of Bring the Noise, a recording considered foundational to rap and rock. Anthrax has sold more than 10 million albums and received six Grammy nominations. Ian hosted VH1's The Rock Show, starred in the reality series SuperGroup, and did voice work for Metalocalypse. He wrote memoirs and toured with spoken word shows. His screen appearances include Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar (2023), Calendar Girls (2003) and Metal Lords (2022).
