Russell Geoffrey Banks
Biography
Russell Geoffrey Banks is an English actor who grew up fascinated by movies and reached the screen by an unusual route. Born and raised in England, he was expelled from school at fifteen and took a string of jobs, from market trader to barman and construction worker, paying for acting classes whenever he could afford them and writing screenplays in his spare time. A holiday in Thailand introduced him to people working in film, and he began doing stand-in jobs on American productions, learning on set before returning to the UK to study Method Acting under Sam Rumbelow. His first lead came as Clayton in Goodnight Gloria, which he co-wrote with its director, Jack Everitt. The parts he has played since tend to come from the darker side of life, among them a scam artist in trouble, a mythological villain and a serial killer.
