First role
Wood started as a professional musician in 1964, playing lead guitar for the Birds, an R&B band from Yiewsley, Middlesex. He had a hand in writing close to half of the songs the group recorded.
Own stunts
At the 1985 Live Aid Concert in Philadelphia, Wood performed with Keith Richards and Bob Dylan. When a string on Dylan's guitar broke during "Blowin' in the Wind", Wood gave him his own guitar and pretended to play until a stagehand brought a replacement.
A change of course
Wood has hosted a radio show of his own on Absolute Radio since 9 April 2010. In May 2011 he won the Sony Radio Personality of the Year award for The Ronnie Wood Show.
