Biography

Robin Hughes was an Argentine-British actor who worked in film and television. Born in Buenos Aires in 1920, he spent his childhood in a series of countries as his father's government post took the family abroad. At 18 he enlisted in the Royal Navy as a signalman, and he ended the Second World War as a lieutenant commander. He moved to the United States in 1948 and built a career in theater, film and television, with guest roles on many series from the 1950s into the 1960s. He played Brian O'Bannion, the amorous editor in Auntie Mame (1958), opposite Rosalind Russell, and took two guest parts on Perry Mason that year. He was also known for the title part of Satan in the Twilight Zone episode The Howling Man. He died in 1989.
