Plot summary
The crew of a United States submarine is sent on a reconnaissance mission to photograph Japanese installations, using a camera on the periscope. Japanese forces attack the submarine. The submarine is scuttled and its officers and crew are taken prisoner by the Japanese. Their capture comes as the Battle of the Coral Sea, a major battle of the Second World War, draws near.
