Patrick Mower
Biography
Patrick Mower is an English actor who worked as an engineering draftsman before training at RADA. In the early 1970s he became known for playing James Cross, a ruthless assassin in the ITV spy drama Callan. He went on to play DCI Tom Haggerty in Special Branch and Det. Supt. Steve Hackett, the lead in the police show Target. His films include The Devil Rides Out (1968) and Carry On England (1976), a late entry in the Carry On series. In the late 1960s he was considered for James Bond but was told he was too young. Later he made guest appearances on Space: 1999, UFO, Minder, The Sweeney, Bergerac and Jason King. Since October 2000 he has portrayed Rodney Blackstock on the ITV soap Emmerdale. His stage work took in Twelfth Night at the Royal Court and St. Joan at the Old Vic, plus West End productions of John Gabriel Borkman and Caesar and Cleopatra.
