Plot summary
Steve Wiley is a compulsive gambler from New York with a debt to settle. Malcolm Smith, a movie fan who trusts his lucky feelings, has just won a convertible in a theater raffle. Steve turns up with a counterfeit copy of the winning ticket and stakes his own claim to the car. The theater manager rules them joint winners and leaves them to divide it. Steve intends to sell the vehicle, while Malcolm wants to take it west so he can meet the actress Anita Ekberg. Steve says he knows her, and the pair set off together for California, with Malcolm's Great Dane, Mr. Bascomb, along for the ride. At every stop Steve looks for a chance to slip away with the car, and the dog keeps blocking him.

- This was the final film Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis made together, and according to Lewis's autobiography Dean and Me, the two did not speak to each other off-camera during the entire shoot.
- A shot of the Sands Hotel marquee advertising a Martin and Lewis appearance, taken from this film's Las Vegas footage, was later reused in Paramount's The Godfather.
- The film's own theatrical trailer turns up again in Paramount's Grease, shown projected on the screen during the drive-in theater scene.
- Jerry Lewis said this was the only one of his own films he had never watched, calling it too painful to sit through.
