Harry McCoy
Biography
Harry McCoy was an American film actor and screenwriter whose career took in more than 150 pictures between 1912 and 1935. Born in Philadelphia, he moved with his family to California in 1910 and got his start in vaudeville, playing piano and singing. He signed on with Universal's Joker Comedy brand in 1912, and a year later he and Max Asher formed the comedy team Mike and Jake. Working for Universal and Keystone at once, he was among the first Keystone Cops, and he directed 15 films at Triangle Keystone. He remained at Keystone until August 1917, then returned briefly to vaudeville on the Pantages circuit. From 1924 to 1925 he turned up in the Stern Bros. Century Comedies released through Universal, and he became a writer for Mack Sennett, receiving a co-writing credit on The Chaser (1928), a Harry Langdon feature. He joined the Disney studio only months before he died in 1937.

Before working in movies, McCoy got his start in vaudeville, where he performed as both a piano player and a singer.
Behind the camera
McCoy received credit, together with Clarence Hennecke and Robert Eddy, for co-writing the scenario of Harry Langdon's 1928 film The Chaser.
A role that slipped away
In 1920, McCoy was one of CBC/Federated's "Hall-room Boys" and appeared opposite Sid Smith, until Jimmie Adams took over his role.
