Michael Visaroff
Biography
Michael Visaroff was a Russian-born character actor whose stage and screen work took place in the United States. Born in Moscow, he trained at the Russian Principal Dramatic School. His early career was in the theater: in July 1922 he arrived in the U.S. with a company from Moscow's Kamerny Theatre, which had a fourteen-week leave from Russia and planned to mount twelve plays on Broadway, one each week. He then moved into film and appeared in more than 110 pictures released from 1925 through 1952. His most familiar screen role was a small uncredited part in Dracula (1931), in which he played a nervous Hungarian innkeeper who warns Renfield about the real existence of vampires. Visaroff died in 1951.
