Mary Scheer

Biography

Mary Scheer is an American performer whose career has centered on television comedy. Born in Detroit, she came to Mad TV from the Groundlings sketch comedy troupe and was among the show's first nine cast members when it premiered in 1995. She created characters such as chain-smoking Mrs. Jewel Barone and Cabana Chat host Dixie Wetsworth, and impersonated public figures including Janet Reno and Demi Moore before leaving the series in 1998. On Nickelodeon's iCarly she played Marissa Benson, the overprotective mother of Freddie, and on Bunk'd she was Gladys, the lonely camp director of Camp Kikiwaka. Her voice work includes Alice the Zookeeper on The Penguins of Madagascar and every female voice on MXC, where she later became supervising producer. Her voice appears in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000), and she appeared in Elvira's Haunted Hills (2001).
