Martin Kosleck
Biography
Martin Kosleck was a German actor who built a Hollywood career playing Nazi villains, most often Joseph Goebbels, a role he took on five times. Born in Pomerania, he trained for six years at the Max Reinhardt Dramatic School and worked in Berlin revues and musicals. After leaving Germany in 1931, he reached the United States and settled in Hollywood, where a part as Goebbels in Confessions of a Nazi Spy (1939) led to steady work in wartime anti-Nazi films, among them Berlin Correspondent, Bomber's Moon, and The Hitler Gang (1944). When such roles faded after the war, Kosleck moved into horror B movies, including The Mummy's Curse (1944) and She-Wolf of London (1946), and gave his best-remembered non-Goebbels performance as the mad sculptor Marcel De Lange in House of Horrors. He also acted on Broadway and in many television series, and his final film was The Man with Bogart's Face (1980).

First role
Kosleck appeared in his first film at the age of 23. It was a silent movie called Der Fahnenträger von Sedan, directed by Johannes Brandt.
