Marthe Keller

Marthe Keller is a Swiss actress who studied ballet as a child before turning to acting and worked with the Schiller Theater and the Berliner Ensemble in Berlin. She is best known for her Golden Globe-nominated role as Dustin Hoffman's girlfriend in Marathon Man (1976). Her other American films include Black Sunday (1977), in which she played a Palestinian terrorist planning an attack on the Super Bowl, Bobby Deerfield (1977) with Al Pacino, and Fedora (1978), directed by Billy Wilder. After 1978 she worked more in European cinema, including Dark Eyes (1987) opposite Marcello Mastroianni. In 2001 she appeared on Broadway in Judgment at Nuremberg, earning a Tony Award nomination. She has also worked in classical music, giving spoken performances in works such as Honegger's Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher and Stravinsky's Perséphone, and she has directed operas including Dialogues des Carmélites and Don Giovanni. In 2016 she led the Un Certain Regard jury at Cannes.
