Kid Rock
Biography
Kid Rock is the stage name of Robert James Ritchie, an American musician and songwriter who began as a rapper in the Detroit hip-hop scene. Self-taught, he released his debut album, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast, in 1990 and broke through with Devil Without a Cause in 1998, a rap rock record that mixed hip-hop, country and rock. He later moved toward country rock, as on Rock n Roll Jesus, and was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2000. His biggest singles include Picture and All Summer Long. He also acted, appearing in the comedy Joe Dirt (2001) and voicing a bacterial version of himself in Osmosis Jones (2001).
