Kenneth Cope
Biography
Kenneth Cope was an English actor and scriptwriter who trained at the Bristol Old Vic theater school and began taking character parts in films in the mid-1950s. Born in Liverpool, he gained attention between 1961 and 1966 as the shady Jed Stone in Coronation Street, a part he returned to in 2008. He also appeared in the satirical program That Was the Week That Was. He played Subutai in Genghis Khan (1965) and the ghost private eye Marty Hopkirk in Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased). His Carry On work included the leading role of Vic Spanner in Carry On at Your Convenience (1971). Later credits took in George and Mildred (1980), Doctor Who, Brookside and A Touch of Frost. He wrote three series of the children's show Striker and died in 2024.
