Kabir Bedi
Biography
Kabir Bedi is an Indian actor who began in Indian theater before moving into Hindi films, and his career has spanned India, the United States and Europe across film, television and stage. Born in Lahore in 1946, he first appeared on television as a newsreader on Doordarshan's Mirror of the World. He became known in Italy and Europe as the pirate Sandokan in an Italian TV miniseries and played the villain's aide Gobinda in the James Bond film Octopussy (1983). His film work includes the historical epic Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story, where he starred as Emperor Shah Jahan, the 1988 film Khoon Bhari Maang, Main Hoon Na (2004), Kites (2010) and The Beast of War (1988). On stage he performed in Othello and Tughlaq and starred in The Far Pavilions in London. He won numerous awards and was knighted by the Italian Republic in 2010.
