John Carson

John Carson was an English actor. Born to English parents in Colombo, he was educated in Australia and studied law at Oxford before turning to amateur theater in New Zealand and then a professional career in Britain. He made his film debut in 1947 and appeared in low-budget British films such as Smokescreen (1964), while his saturnine looks and sinister voice, at times compared to James Mason, brought him roles in horror films including The Plague of the Zombies (1966), The Man Who Haunted Himself (1970), Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970) and Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter. He played villains in 1960s adventure series such as The Avengers and The Saint, with later television credits ranging from Emma to Doctor Who and Poirot. He appeared in the original stage productions of A Man For All Seasons and A Day in the Death of Joe Egg and joined the final series of The Troubleshooters as James Langley.
