Jefferson Mays

Jefferson Mays is an American actor who studied at Yale College and the University of California, San Diego, and appeared at theaters including Playwrights Horizons, the La Jolla Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre and the Williamstown Theatre Festival. His solo performance in Doug Wright's Pulitzer Prize-winning I Am My Own Wife, staged Off-Broadway in 2003 and on Broadway into 2004, won him a Tony Award, a Drama Desk Award, an Obie Award and a Theatre World Award; he later won a Helpmann Award for Australian seasons of the play. In 2007 he played Henry Higgins in Pygmalion and Private Mason in Journey's End. He played nine roles in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder on Broadway from 2013 to 2016, earning an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Tony nomination, and was later nominated for a Tony for Oslo. On television he played Carl Rudnick in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
