Inna Churikova

Biography

Inna Churikova was a Soviet and Russian actress who trained at the Schepkin Theatrical School at the Maly Theatre and graduated in 1965. Born in Belebey, near Ufa, and raised in Moscow, she made her screen debut in 1961 and became known for the role of Tanya Tetkina in V ogne broda net, released in 1968. Her work in Nachalo (1970), as a provincial amateur actress cast as Joan of Arc, was considered her finest. She won Berlin's Silver Bear for Best Actress in 1984 for Voenno-polevoy roman and later appeared in Kurochka Ryaba (1994). From 1974 she acted with the Lenkom Theatre in Moscow, where her stage roles included Sara in Ivanov, Arkadina in Seagull, and Ophelia in Hamlet. Her honors included the Golden Mask, the State Prize of Russia, and the title People's Artist of the USSR. She died in 2023.
