Yuriy Kutsenko
Biography
Yuriy Kutsenko, known as Gosha Kutsenko, is a Russian film and theater actor. Born in Zaporozhie, Ukraine, he moved to Moscow in 1988 and entered the Moscow Art Theatre School in 1990, where Oleg Tabakov admitted him and Ivan Tarkhanov trained him before graduation in 1992. He made his screen debut in 1991 with Chelovek is komandy Alfa and Mummy from a case, then rose to prominence as Arthur in the criminal comedy-drama Mama ne goryuy (1998). He earned critical acclaim for the lead role as Lis in Antikiller (2002), and subsequently found international success in Timur Bekmambetov's vampire films Night Watch (2004) and Day Watch (2006). On stage he joined the Moscow Theatre of Mossoveta in the 1990s and was praised for Chapaev i pustota and Revizor. He also hosted television programs, taught acting at VGIK, worked as a singer-songwriter, and partnered in a film production company.
