Henry Beckman
Biography
Henry Beckman was a Canadian actor of stage, film and television who appeared in more than a hundred productions in the United States and Canada. Born in Halifax, he served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. His recurring television roles included Commander Paul Richards in the 1954 Flash Gordon serial, Bob Mulligan in I'm Dickens, He's Fenster, George Anderson in Peyton Place, Captain Clancey in Here Come the Brides, Harry Mark on Bronk and Colonel Douglas Harrigan in McHale's Navy, and he played Colonel Platt in the 1965 movie McHale's Navy Joins the Air Force. He guest starred four times on Perry Mason. Later credits included Kane & Abel, Check It Out!, The Commish, MacGyver and The X-Files. He won Canadian Film Awards for best supporting actor for Why Rock the Boat? in 1975 and Blood and Guts in 1978, and was a founder of the Dukes Oak Theater, a company based in Cooperstown, New York.
