Harry Groener

Harry Groener is an American actor and dancer whose best-known screen role is Mayor Wilkins on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Born in Augsburg, West Germany, he moved to the United States at age two, was an apprentice at the San Francisco Ballet as a teenager, and graduated from the University of Washington's School of Drama in 1976. Much of his New York reputation comes from musical theater, and his Broadway work includes Is There Life After High School?, Oklahoma! as Will Parker, Cats as Munkustrap, Sunday in the Park with George, and Crazy for You as Bobby Child. Those shows brought him a Theatre World Award plus Tony Award nominations, and he was nominated for Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. On television he was a regular on Dear John, appeared in three Star Trek series, and played the chef Gunther on Las Vegas. His films include Road to Perdition and About Schmidt (2002).
