Gila Golan

Gila Golan, an Israeli actress and former model, began in pageants and modeling before moving into film. Born in Kraków, she moved to Israel in 1948. An American photographer noticed her, leading to a modeling appearance in LaIsha, an Israeli women's magazine. In 1960 she was runner-up for Miss Israel and finished second in Miss World, after which she traveled to the United States for fundraising. In June 1964 she joined Columbia Pictures under contract. Her first screen part came in Ship of Fools (1965), playing Elsa Lutz as a replacement, and Herbert Berghof gave her acting lessons. She starred in Our Man Flint (1966) and appeared in Three on a Couch (1966) and The Valley of Gwangi (1969). Golan retired from acting in 1969. In the 1980s she helped with fundraising and organization for the 2nd Israel Film Festival.
