Gaius Charles
Biography
Gaius Charles is an American actor who first became known for playing Smash Williams on the television drama Friday Night Lights, a role he held for three seasons. Born in Manhattan, he grew up in New York City and Teaneck, New Jersey, and studied drama at Carnegie Mellon University before landing that part in 2006. He later took a break from acting and returned to television as Dr. Shane Ross on Grey's Anatomy. His other series work includes Aquarius, where he played Bunchy Carter, Necessary Roughness, and the first season of NBC's Taken in 2017. He has also appeared in guest roles on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Blindspot, Drunk History, NCIS, Pan Am, and Law & Order: SVU. His films include Salt (2010), Takers (2010), The Messenger (2009), and The Stanford Prison Experiment (2015). On stage, he appeared in Othello with the Labyrinth Theater Company and originated roles in Lower Ninth and Broke-ology.
