Biography

Elizabeth Wilson was an American actress who worked in film, television, and theater for nearly sixty years. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she trained at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia, and with Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City. Her Broadway debut came in Picnic in 1953 and won a Tony Award in 1972 for Sticks and Bones. She was nominated for a Primetime Emmy and a BAFTA, and in 2006 was added to the American Theater Hall of Fame. Her films included The Graduate (1967), Little Murders (1971), The Prisoner of Second Avenue (1975), Nine to Five (1980), Regarding Henry (1991), and The Addams Family (1991). In Hyde Park on Hudson (2012), her last film, she played Sara Delano Roosevelt. On television, she was a regular on East Side/West Side and Doc, and appeared in Dark Shadows, All in the Family, Murder, She Wrote, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
