Elizabeth Counsell

Elizabeth Counsell is an English actress and singer, best known for the BBC television series Brush Strokes and for her stage work. Born in Windsor in 1942, she began performing in 1957 at the Theatre Royal in Windsor. Her stage career includes Lady Macbeth opposite Michael Gambon at the Forum Theatre in Billingham in 1968, a spell as Michael Redgrave's leading lady in his Shakespeare's People anthology in 1976 and 1977, and, in 1983, the title part in Peter Hall's Jean Seberg for the Royal National Theatre. On screen she appeared in Hot Millions (1968), Claudia (1985) and Song for Marion (2012), and in the comedy drama Hollywood Hits Chiswick on Channel 4. Her later television work includes the BBC1 drama The Split, and in 2023 she was announced as a cast member of EastEnders.
