Eli Russell Linnetz

Biography

Eli Russell Linnetz is an American designer, photographer and creative director who began as a child voice actor, lending his voice to Tipo in Disney's animated film The Emperor's New Groove (2000). Born in Los Angeles, he studied screenwriting at the University of Southern California, in its School of Cinematic Arts, and at 15 he contacted playwright David Mamet and was asked to help on Mamet's theater and film projects. Linnetz wrote, directed and co-produced the 2015 short Afterglow. He started the Venice Beach label ERL in 2018 with backing from Comme des Garçons, taking inspiration from West Coast skate and surf culture. In 2022 Kim Jones selected him as the first American to work on a Dior Men's capsule, presented in Venice Beach, and that year he received the Karl Lagerfeld Award from the LVMH Prize. Earlier he had a 2021 CFDA Emerging Designer of the Year nomination and was named GQ's Breakthrough Designer of the Year.
