David Westhead
Biography
David Westhead is an English actor who studied drama at Bristol University and then trained at RADA, graduating in 1987 and joining the Actors' Touring Company. He was a regular cast member of television series including The Bill, Blackeyes, Bramwell, The Lakes, Grafters, Criminal Justice, W1A and The Silence. In The Silence he played Frank Evans, and in 2018 he appeared as Prime Minister John Vosler in the BBC series Bodyguard. His film work includes Mrs Brown (1997), where he was the Prince of Wales, Stage Beauty (2004), and the Emmy Award winning The Lost Prince (2003). On stage he has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National and Royal Court theaters, and in 1993 he played Tristan Tzara in Travesties. He helped set up Wilton Pictures in 2002, a company that makes documentaries. He has also done radio voice work.

Behind the camera
Westhead started a production company called Wilton Pictures in 2002 with two colleagues, and the company focused on making documentaries.
Early training
Westhead studied drama at Bristol University and then trained at RADA, graduating in 1987 before joining the Actors' Touring Company.
Beyond film
In a 1993 British staging of Travesties, Westhead took the role of Tristan Tzara. The Observer's review described his Tzara as blissfully adept and funny.
A change of course
While teaching drama in South Africa, Westhead met disadvantaged youngsters with photography potential and, with photographer John Cole, gave them an eight-week crash course so they could earn a living from it.
Behind the award
Westhead's photography project 'Wembley to Soweto' was exhibited at London's South Bank in July 2011. He was given the Media Society's bursary award in 2013 for this project.
