Dana Wynter

Dana Wynter was a German-born British actress whose film and television career stretched across more than four decades from the 1950s. Born in Berlin in 1931, she grew up in Britain and southern Africa and studied medicine at Rhodes University before turning to acting. She started in British films in 1951, mostly in small or uncredited parts, then moved to New York, where she found more success on stage and television. After 20th Century Fox signed her in 1955, she won a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer and played Becky Driscoll in Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956). Her other films included D-Day the Sixth of June (1956), Something of Value (1957), Shake Hands with the Devil (1959), Sink the Bismarck! (1960), On the Double (1961), The List of Adrian Messenger (1963) and Airport (1970). She also guest-starred in many television series and later took a part in the Irish soap opera Bracken.
