Charles Seel
Biography
Charles Seel was an American actor whose screen career ran from 1938 to 1974, with over 30 film credits and more than one hundred television appearances. Born in the Bronx, New York, he worked as a handyman for Biograph Studios before turning to vaudeville, Broadway, and radio, then moved to Hollywood in 1937. He was sometimes credited as Charles Seal or Charles F. Seel. Among his film roles, he played the old man in Duel (1971), and his final big-screen part came in Airport 1975 as a passenger celebrating an anniversary. On television he appeared in such series as The Road West, where he had a recurring role as Tom Pride, and Gunsmoke as Barney Danches, along with many other shows. His last television work was in a 1974 episode of Apple's Way. He died in 1980.
